What are chats?

Chats are your conversation threads in Minibuddies. Each chat is a separate conversation with its own history. When you send a message, it’s added to the current chat. When you start a new chat, you begin a fresh thread. All your chats are saved so you can return to them anytime. Think of chats like separate documents or notebooks - each one holds a different conversation, and you can switch between them as needed.

Viewing past chats

1

Open the Chats section

From the dashboard, click Chats in the sidebar. You’ll see a list of your recent conversations, usually ordered by most recent activity.
2

Browse the list

Each chat may show a title (often from the first message), a preview, and the date or time of the last activity. Scroll to find the chat you want.
3

Open a chat

Click a chat to open it. The full conversation loads in the main area. You can continue the conversation by sending new messages.
Chat history is stored on Minibuddies servers. You can access it from any device as long as you’re signed in. Chats are tied to your account and persist until you delete them (if deletion is supported).

Starting a new chat

When you want to begin a fresh conversation:
  1. Click New Chat or the + icon. The exact location depends on the layout - often in the Chats section or near the prompt box.
  2. The main area clears and shows an empty chat.
  3. Type your first message and send it. The new chat is created and saved automatically.
  4. The chat appears in your Chats list for future access.
Start a new chat when you’re switching topics, agents, or context. This keeps each conversation focused and makes it easier to find later.

Switching between chats

You can move between chats without losing your place:
  1. Open the Chats section or the chat list.
  2. Click the chat you want to open.
  3. The main area updates to show that conversation. You can read the history and continue the discussion.
Your current chat is preserved when you switch. Nothing is lost - you’re just viewing a different thread.

Chat context and agents

Each chat can use different agents. When you switch agents mid-chat, that chat continues with the new agent. When you start a new chat, you can pick any agent from the start. The agent you use affects the kind of help you get, but the chat itself is agent-agnostic - you can change agents within the same chat.

Organizing and finding chats

  • Recency - Chats are typically sorted by last activity. The most recent conversations appear first.
  • Search - If search is available, use it to find chats by keyword or topic.
  • Titles - Chats may be auto-titled from the first message. A clear first prompt can make chats easier to identify later.

Best practices

  • Use descriptive first messages - They often become or influence chat titles, making chats easier to find.
  • Start new chats for new projects - Keeps context clean and avoids mixing unrelated work.
  • Return to past chats - Your history is saved; you can pick up where you left off.
